"Joyce was a secretary at the nearby "Space Technology Laboratories" who had attended a holiday party on Thanks Giving Eve (11/25/1964) at a "PIZZA HOUSE" located at 924 North Sepulveda in Manhattan Beach. After this party, a male co-worker offered her a ride to her vehicle and they "stopped at a bar" on the way. Reportedly they stayed until about 2am and he last saw her leave the bar toward her vehicle. Another article reported this male worker dropped her off at her vehicle at Aviation Boulevard and 118th Street in El Segundo, so not sure of the correct details at this point.
Shortly thereafter, she was involved in an apparent fender-bender (Not certain as to how) along Rosecrans Avenue, just West of Sepulveda Blvd. Depending on the location of this bar, she appeared to be driving home as she was residing at 325 18th Place in Manhattan Beach (see map in below post). When PD approached, she is observed speaking with a male who was inspecting her vehicle. She showed no signs of distress and acted as though she was comfortable with the male. Police had stopped and questioned her, as well, spoke with the male who stated "the tie-rod is broken and my friend is a body repair man." PD seems to think nothing of this and inspect the vehicle as Joyce and the male (who walked with a limp) walked away toward his vehicle, which was believed to be a dark colored, possibly Chevy; however, responding officers could not be certain. PD then departed the scene. This is the last known contact anybody had with her prior to her death.
During the morning of Thanks Giving (11/26/1964), she is found "strangled and stabbed numerous times."
